This Friday (26th February) is Purple Friday. This is an annual fundraiser for LGBTQ+ Youth Scotland, an organisation which promotes health and wellbeing and human rightss, and here in the Cults Academy community, we will play our part.
(^Tip: If you’re on a mobile, turn you screen sideways for a better view of the presentation)
We have set up four interhouse competitions:
Creative Writing – Write an original poem or short story.
Creative Artwork – Paint or draw a creative piece
Creative Other – Anything you like! Why not write a song? Produce a music video? Decorate a cake? Be creative!
For the creative challenges, we encourage you to create something that reminds you of unity, equality, pride, or respect.
Strava Challenge – This challenge is organised by the PE department using the Strava app. Pupils (and staff) are encouraged to record the distance they walk/run/cycle, and the house with the biggest overall distance will win.
How to donate:
Make a donation via LGBT Youth website: www.lgbtyouth.org.uk/donate
Text PURPLE to 70470 to donate £5
Texting costs £5 plus a standard rate message. Alternatively, you can opt to give any whole amount up to £20 by texting LGBT followed by the amount you wish to give (for example, ‘LGBT 15’ to give £15).
Thanks to our Pride Group, our House Captains and our PE colleagues for helping to put together and run this event.
