NATIONAL 4

Pupils should have a secure level of knowledge at CfE level 3. This course has the following mandatory units: Expressions and Formulae; Relationships; Numeracy; Added Value.

Currently this course is internally assessed. Pupils who pass National 4 Maths may be recommended by their teacher to progress to National 5 Maths.

NATIONAL 5

Candidates should have achieved the fourth curriculum level or the National 4 Mathematics course prior to starting this course. The course is externally assessed with 2 papers, one of which is non-calculator. In class, pupils sit 4 Numeracy assessments throughout the year and 2 assessments at exam level. There is a practice added value assessment in February as part of Assessment Week.
