Today, John from the Lighthouse Support Centre came to collect donations made by Cults Academy pupils and staff from our S6 CATCh team towards their Christmas appeal for foodstuffs, cleaning products and toiletries.
Lighthouse is based in Tillydrone – an area we are connected to by a short bus ride on the number 19 – and provides support to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of their community. They are completely reliant on volunteer services and over 60 people a week help distribute food packages and household goods.
As part of our work as a Rights Respecting School, we are launching our Project 19 campaign. We are going to be working together over the coming months to fundraise and promote the work of the Lighthouse project who work hard to uphold Article 27 of the UNCRC – “Every child has the right to food, clothing a safe place to live and to have their basic needs met. You should not be disadvantaged so that you can’t do many of the things other kids can do.”
